1/ You should trash OTC meds the second they expire. // FALSE
Painkillers and cold meds are typically A-OK to take after they’ve expired, says Rahul
Khare, M.D. “They can still be effective a month or two past the date on the box, but I wouldn’t take anything after six months,” he says. The exception: liquid syrups, which can go rancid.

2/ If the recommended dose of a pain reliever doesn’t help, popping lots more of the same medicine will. // FALSE
“OTC drugs like acetaminophen, aspirin, and ibuprofen have maximum ‘ceiling doses,’ which means that taking more than what’s on the label won’t add to the drug’s effectiveness; it will only contribute to its toxicity,” says Patrick J. McDonnell, Pharm.D., professor of clinical pharmacy practice at Temple University School of Pharmacy. If you need a boatload of relief, talk to your doctor about other options.

YOUR BEST BET: cetirizine
This group of (barely pronounceable!) meds is often referred to as antihistamines, which are  your go-to for relief from seasonal sneezing and dripping. Research shows cetirizine is the most all-around effective at relieving symptoms caused by your body’s overactive immune response to allergens, though it does make a small percentage of users drowsy, says JamesSublett, M.D., managing partner of  Family Allergy & Asthma in Louisville, Kentucky. For a nonsedating option, take a med with loratadine. Or try something more natural. “Research shows that using a bottle of saline nasal spray with a few drops of peppermint oil added

It would be quite a challenge to work with them. What a great market!’ By paying little attention to older people the fitness sector is avoiding an area of work which is hugely rewarding and satisfying and reduces greatly the personal, social and health costs of old age as well as missing an enormous commercial opportunity. So here are three key questions for those of us who work as personal trainers and fitness instructors:

1. Why are older people important?
2. What can we offer them?
3. How can we do it?

Their older counterparts, however, saw more harm. “Millennials fall hard and fast, and they don’t have the full-on ability to weigh in on costs and benefits,” says relationship expert Rachel Sussman, author of The Breakup Bible. “It takes time, experience, and wisdom to learn how to consider consequences.” Until then, here’s how millennials approach the cube dating pool:

What’s the simplest way to cut 400 calories a day?

Beyond the obvious (like stepping away from the cheesecake), start by nixing liquid calories, says Lauren Slayton, R.D., owner of Foodtrainers in New York City. She’s not talking about
just soda and cocktails:
Even healthy beverages can jack up your calorie count. Cases in point: pressed fruit and vegetable juice (up to 440 calories for 16 ounces) and coconut water (up to 93 calories for 16 ounces).
Then make a few smart swaps throughout the day: Replace a slice of cheese with an extra handful of spinach to cut 100 calories from your omelet. Instead of a quarter cup of almonds, snack on one ounce of kale chips— up to 105 calories, saved. Dress your salad with lemon

Myth #1 I have to exercise if I want to lose weight When it comes to weight loss, experts agree that it’s what you eat that counts most, not how much you exercise. ‘When you’re Food Optimising, you’ll be eating at least 500 fewer calories a day, without feeling hungry. To burn off 500 calories by exercising, you’d have to run for about an hour a day, which most of us would find impossible,’ says Dr Jacquie Lavin, Slimming World’s head of nutrition and research. ‘So if you don’t feel confident enough to start exercising straight away, don’t worry.
